SNPA Jobs Database

Special thanks to the SNPA member newspapers that contributed to this collection of newspaper job descriptions. 

These are not designed to be model job descriptions, but will serve as an excellent starting point for any newspaper wanting to update its written job descriptions.  There’s great value in seeing what other newspapers – both large and small – are doing.

Newspapers are not identified with the various descriptions shared. However, SNPA does note whether a given job description was shared by a newspaper under 50,000 circulation or over 50,000 circulation. A few non-daily positions also are included in the materials available.

The job descriptions database includes jobs from departments throughout newspapers:

• Administrative / Business / Information Technology – about 100 positions
• Advertising / Marketing – about 135 jobs
  
• Circulation – about 100 positions
  
• Design and Graphics – about 30 positions
  
• Human Resources – 15 jobs
  
• New Media – almost 30 positions
  
• News/Editorial – nearly 150 positions
  
• NIE – 7 positions
  
• Production/Maintenance – about 135 positions
  
• Promotion – about two dozen jobs
